What is Teen Patti?
Teen Patti (meaning “three cards” in Hindi) is a popular Indian card game similar to British 3-card Poker. Also known as Flash, Flush, or Indian Poker, it is traditionally played during Diwali and other celebrations. The game is played with a standard 52-card deck (without jokers) and can be enjoyed by 3 to 6 players.
Hindi: Teen Patti ek mashhoor Indian card game hai jisme har player ko 3 patte milte hain. Sabse acche patte wala player jeetata hai. Yeh game Diwali aur festivals par bahut khela jaata hai.
Basic Rules of Teen Patti
Setup
Each player places an initial bet (called the “boot” or “ante”) into the pot. The dealer distributes 3 cards face-down to each player.
Blind vs Seen
Blind: Play without looking at your cards. You bet half the current stake. Playing blind is risky but costs less per round.
Seen: Look at your cards before betting. You must bet at least the current stake amount (double what a blind player bets).
Betting Rounds
Players take turns betting. Each player can either: Call (match the current bet), Raise (increase the bet), or Fold (drop out and lose what you have bet). The game continues until only two players remain.
Showdown
When two players remain, either player can pay for a “Show” — both reveal their cards and the higher hand wins the pot. If one player folds, the other wins automatically.
Hand Rankings (Highest to Lowest)
Pro Tip: A-2-3 is the second highest pure sequence (after A-K-Q). This surprises many new players — remember it!
Teen Patti Tips and Strategy
Start Small
Begin at low-stake tables (Rs.10-50) to learn the game without risking much. Move to higher tables as you gain experience.
Play Blind Strategically
Playing blind costs less per round. Use it early in the game to build the pot without spending too much. Switch to seen when the pot is large enough.
Read Your Opponents
Watch betting patterns. A player who suddenly raises big may have a strong hand — or may be bluffing. Over time, you will learn to read the table.
Know When to Fold
Do not chase every hand. If your cards are weak (low high card, no pair), fold early to save your chips for better hands.
Manage Your Bankroll
Set a budget before playing. Never bet more than you can afford. Good bankroll management is the difference between casual fun and financial trouble.
